One For The Road

Update: for those of you who got the OPUS-CD at Kammaren, you can see what the tracks are HERE

Hello all,

last night at home for a while, I’m leaving tomorrow and will be back in 3 weeks or so. First, the following things are awaiting:

Oct. 14-15 Kammaren, Stockholm,

Oct. 20 Lausanne, Switzerland

Oct 22 Falun

Oct 24 Västerås

And then, recordings of…Beethoven, of course.

Many of you have seen this via Facebook, but if you have not, here is Part 2 of BoB:

***

Heh, I heard today that our favs The Ark is going to blog from their recording session. Aha! I don’t want to take credit for this, in no way, but I can say that Ola and I had a little conversation on this on the train to Uppsala, based on the fact that this blog had 1200 hits the night we (and I mean, me, Jonas and you guys) had a live blog from Växjö…

***

Christina asked me in a message about playing differently in recordings, or concerts, or another day, or…that’s an interesting subject. I’m a little too tired to write well about that tonight, but I will shoot for the next post to explore it.

***

For those of you who live near Stockholm, I can recommend the concerts at Kammaren, their website is here .

It’s in a quite special place, a large photo studio if I’m not mistaken (Jon, if you read this correct me in a comment…). The atmosphere is relaxed, you can have a glass of wine before, during, and after the concert. There is one show at 17.45 and one at 20.15, and they are not too long, so you can easily show up “after-work”.

Usually unusual things happens at those kind of informal concerts. I will play a couple of Beethoven sonatas you haven’t heard in the Beethoven blog before also…

***

Oh, I have a little idea about a competition, but I’ll start that one in the post AFTER next…

***

Time for me to go to bed, if you read this in the morning and needs to wake up a little, I have this video for you. I know, I still have some stuff from Växjö to show you, but I have to make those little movies and they should be good ( I’m slightly proud of my work with the Yiddish thing…it’s done with only one camera on a table which didn’t move or zoomed. Final Cut Pro is tricky but absolutely amazing)

Until soon…and comment away folks!

  1. Kammaren was just a fantastic place! But the music was even more fantastic!
Just a short Thank You Per for letting us know here about it.

    • Nice to see you there Majsan, and thanks for the photos!

  2. Then you’re always so busy, always around the world, always in beautiful sites: lucky you!
It will be my impression, but I find that you and Shan-shan Sun play the piano in a very similar way. Congratulations to you both.

    • Ha, the things I visit are not always too beautiful, actually. Many of my days are not to envy at all. Interesting that you think we play similarly…I guess we have some influence on each other, no?

  3. Christina, I totally agree with you!!! Shall we send Per some information about Gothenburg and a map how to get there?
Per…take your wife with you and play for all of us here on the west coast. And also so I can bring my husband to hear you playing, and my parents. I have been talking so much about you in front of my mother so she can´t wait to hear you playing. “Bara han kommer till Göteborg någon gång”, did she said last time I did visit my hometown Strömstad and the farm I grow up at. You will get my mam rocking as much as you have making me rock to classical music. I wish she some day also can get the chans to hear An Arkeology live.
And, YES The Ark is on the “river” again.
Big hugs from an Angel that fly high because of all wonderfull music.
    Ses la i Göteborg;)

    • You can also do what I did, Sara – I sent my mother a link with Duo Tengstrand (Walz of the Flowers). She was delighted … :D I also bought her a ticket for Tjajkovskij in January, so I’m afraid Per has to stand me*2 in the audience that night. Don’t be shocked, please.

Otherwise I strongly support the idea – we need Tengstrand&Sun in Gothenburg. Definitely.

      • :) My mother has been watching a lot of links I did send to her during this period that Per and Ola has been working together. I think it will take more than two of Christina to totally get Per the “Dåndimpen”, finn ett engelskt ord till mig för det. Tack!!!

      • Dumbfounded is the closes word I can think off…
As a reply to Sara Love.

      • Awwww…please say hello to your mother, both Sara and Christina. Promise, won’t be shocked.

  4. I just read this and though ok… but you have to have a “abonnemangs ticket” for 6 concerts in order to go.. Other wise I sure should have tried!

I thought you were behind the studio Blog and I’m happy to say that they did have a new entrance today.
I do follow a blog day by day right now but it is not just for fun…
My niece had a baby 2 weeks ago that is still in hospital and doing not so well, but here I can communicate with them everyday and see pictures of little Sigge!
I LOVE that that is possible through blogging!

    • Oh…I hope the Sigge-baby is doing better?

  5. You have to tell Shan-shan that I love her interpretation of Kapustin, so crisp and filled with temper. I also have to say that she is a wonderful SIGHT as well, like she is dancing with the piano. I have never thought that about a pianist before.

Congrats to you who live near Stockholm again, for the 12th time or so. :( This is not fair.

    Meeh.

    • I will tell her, and she will be very happy to hear that!

Yes, I agree, why is it that there are not happening things in the west coast of Sweden. I hope that changes soon.

    • Vi får la fortsätta tjöta änna…

      • Stockholm e Stockholm! Städernas Stad!!!

      • Spelar ingen roll om det är det för här bor Kal & Ada och man kan åka på en groda istället för att säga en. Och det växer bananer här, men det är alldeles för få Per för sällan här!
